"WELCH — Alfred P. Blankenship Jr., age 76, of Jr Poca section of Welch, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Sunbridge Pine Lodge in Beckley."Born March 4, 1932, in Panther, he was the son of the late Alfred P. Blankenship Sr. and Dora Whitt Blankenship.
"He was a resident (Jr Poca) Welch the greater part of his life. A veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was of the Protestant Faith. A retired mining electrician and member of the U.M.W.A. He spent his retirement with his son and little Buddy working on trucks and motors as well as helping with local baseball and football.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Tennison and Richard Blankenship, Mike, James and John Christian; two sisters, Bernice Kezcen and Lorraine Lockhart.
"Survivors include one son, Mike Boomer Blankenship of Welch; one daughter-in-law, Kristy Blankenship of Princeton; one brother, Douglas Blankenship of Youngstown, Ohio; three grandchildren, Charles Michael, Jordon Leigh, Hannah Ann Blankenship, all of Princeton.
"Funeral services will be conducted from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch with Elder Arthur Short, Elder John R. Justice and Elder Kermit Lester, officiating.
