"Charles (Charlie) Blankenship, 68, of Panther, WV, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at his residence following a short battle with cancer."Charlie was born June 15, 1952, a son of the late James Henry Blankenship and Helen Lester Blankenship Matney. He was a member of the Panther Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed farming, camping, hunting and carpentry.
"In addition to his parents Charlie was preceded in death by, his stepfather, Wayne Matney; and two sisters, Ocie and Charlotte Roberts.
"Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Truley Blankenship of the home; five children, Telenia Cline, and Charlie Cline both of Mudfork, near Panther, WV, Charles Andrew and Alisha Mounts of Princeton, WV, Amy and Joshua Mullins of Panther, WV, and Eric Blankenship and Catherine also of Panther; an adopted son, Eugene Mounts of Panther; three brothers, James Blankenship of Panther, Johnny and Lenora Matney of Panther, and Ronnie and Sylvia Matney of Panther; six sisters, Mary Keene Lyons of North Carolina, Susan Roberts of Kentucky, Phyllis and James Collins of Isaban, Dianne and Virgel Stevens of Roderfiled, Kimberly and James Mills of Princeton, and Michelle and Ronald Dunn of South Carolina; two grandsons, Devon and Chase Mounts of Princeton; a granddaughter, Chayann Cline; special nieces, Carylan Mills and April Justice; special brother -in-law who is the same as a brother, Kenneth Mounts; and special friends, Jerry Justice, Cavon Baiey, Harold Lyons, and Elmer Steele.
"Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 1 o’clock with Reverend John Hunt officiating at the Panther Missionary Baptist Church in Panther. Burial will follow in the Blankenship Cemetery at Panther, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
" Friends may visit with the family Tuesday evening September 29, 2020 after 5 p.m. and all day Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the Panther Missionary Baptist Church in Panther, WV. An evening service will be held each evening at 7 p.m.
"Services will be held in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, mask are to be worn by all attending and social distancing is to be practiced.
