"Funeral services for Thomas Giles 69, of 118 Maple St., Zeigler, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Mr. Giles died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 1979, at Herrin Hospital. Mr. Giles was a retired miner. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 1124, and the Zeigler Eagles Lodge. He was born Nov 23, 1910, in Pen-shaw, England, to Robert and Sarah Slack Giles. Survivors include his wife, the former Helen Wargo; two sons, Thomas Jr. of Lebanon, Va., and Arthur of Rock Hill, S.C.; two daughters, Sarah Gatus of Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, and Doris Ann Giles of Zeigler; and five grandchildren. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
