"TAZEWELL, Va. — Edna Mae Lockhart Turner, age 89, of Tazewell, Va., passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Eastview Adult Care in Bluefield, Va."Born Jan. 14, 1923 in Maxwell, Va., she was a daughter of the late Edward and Fannie Rose Lockhart. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker who used her many talents to support her church and enrich her family. Mrs. Turner was a long time member of Pisgah United Methodist Church and a leader and supporter of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mrs. Turner enjoyed being a homemaker and preparing holiday meals for her family. Her flowers were a source of great pride and she relished in their beauty. During years of good health, her hands stitched many quilts that will be long treasured by her family.
"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Aileen Lockhart and Irene Lockhart Wright; and two brothers, Robert Lockhart and Curtis Lockhart.
"She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Harry Bane Turner; four daughters, Patricia Decker of Maryville, Tenn., Eunice Turner of Knoxville, Tenn., Louise Mitchell and husband, Roger of Mooresville, N.C., and Peggy Riley and husband, Carl of Tazewell, Va.; two sons, Harry Turner Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn. and Bill Jake Turner and wife, Linda of Tazewell, Va.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Brashares of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and one brother, Garland Lockhart of Roanoke. Va.
"Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. with the Reverend Rodney Lawson officiating. Her grandsons, Keith Decker, Tim Jenkins, Chris Jenkins, Randy Mitchell, B.J. Turner, and C.H. Riley III will serve as pallbearers.
