"Elmo Kennedy, 85, of Paynesville, WV, passed away at his residence Tuesday, May 3, 2016.
Elmo was born March 26, 1931, in Bradshaw, WV, a son of the late Daniel and Sarah Margaret Horn Kennedy. He was a retired coal miner and a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of the masonic lodge."In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Kennedy and Warren Larry Kennedy, and three sisters, Velma Sparks, Mary Grimes, and Dessie Coster.
"Survivors include his children, Vanessa Miller of Tennessee, Treese Payne of Tennessee, Anthony Kennedy and wife Jenny of Paynesville, WV, and Tonya Barker and husband Daryl also of Paynesville, WV; two brothers, J. D. Kennedy and Austin Kennedy both of Paynesville, WV; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
"Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11 o'clock with Reverend J. D. Kennedy and Reverend Bob Blevins officiating at the Bradshaw Mountain Community Church at Paynesville, WV. Burial will follow in Tom Sparks Cemetery at Rockridge near Paynesville, WV, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #175 and VFW post #1144; Masonic rites will be conducted by the Iaeger Masonic Lodge #148...."
