"Hersie Price, 85, of Dry Creek entered into eternal rest on Aug. 21, 2009, after an extended illness."He was born April 23, 1924, in Marfork and was a son of the late Harrison and Laura (Pettry) Price. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Betty (Bruno) Price; his brother, Norman, and his sisters, Nannie Aliff and Reba Toney.
"He served two years in the U.S. Army and worked in the coal industry until his retirement in April 1979. He was of the Christian faith.
"He is survived by his loving companion and best friend, Corena Bradford of Sophia; his daughters, Ellena (Paul) Sigmon of Indiana, Ella Mae (Everett Jr.) Hartman of Georgia, and Larlene (Clayton) Smith of North Carolina; son, Gary W. (Lisa) Price Sr. of Barrett; and stepson, Roger Bruno of Ohio.
"He is also survived by a brother, Herman (Alice) Price of Sundial; and sister, Mae Dilly of Ohio. He had six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
"A special thank you goes to his son-in-law, Everett "Junebug" Hartman Jr., for the devoted loving care he gave to our father.
"A special thank you also goes to the hospice staff and the physicians and nurses at Raleigh General Hospital for their wonderful care, and to all friends and family who said prayers and had kind words during our father's illness.
"Funeral services were held on Aug. 23 at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, with the Rev. David Cook officiating. Singing was provided by Judy Dickens and Amanda O'Neill. Interment followed at Pineview Cemetery, Orgas."
