"Troy Rufus Bailey, 63, of Panther, WV, peacefully went to his heavenly home following a brief illness on February 27, 2026, at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on May 15, 1962 in Iaeger, WV a son of the late Willard and Ethel Bailey. Troy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Troy was known as a hard worker throughout his life. He worked as a logger and truck driver, providing for his family with dedication and pride. He never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was deeply passionate about his community and took pride in operating a small food bank to help those around him. He found his greatest joy in the simple but meaningful moments — riding the side-by-side in the mountains with his family, cooking out, playing horseshoes, and spending time with the people he loved most. His laughter, generosity, and kind heart will be remembered by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Bailey and Eddy Bailey two sisters, Loretta Atwell and infant Carol Sue Bailey and one precious grandchild, Braiden Compton. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Judy Kay Bailey his son, Josh (Sheena) Compton and his daughter, Amanda (Jason) Lester and his fur baby “Buddy Max”. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Zach Compton, Amberly Lester, Brooklyn Lester, Makayla Compton, and Hunter Lester, and a great-grandfather to Easton Jace Lester. He is also survived by his sisters Audrey (John) Blevins, Diana (Bryan) Frazier, and a sister he lovingly adopted, Sharon (Jeff) Lawhun. Troy leaves behind a special host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Troy’s legacy of love, strength, and service will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, March 5th at the Isaban Church of God, Isaban, WV with Sister Sandy Bryant officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Bailey Family Cemetery, Long Pole, WV. Friends may gather with the family after 6 pm on Wednesday, March 4th at the church. Pallbearers will be Jason Lester, Josh Compton, Hunter Lester, Jeff Lawhun, Benji Rasnick, John Rowe, Steven Rowe, Willard Bailey, Amberly Lester. She was a homemaker, a member of the Church of Christ, and the last surviving member of her original family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved to cook for her family and friends.
"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Hirsel Christian in 1965 and Ural Bandy in 1990; two daughters, Dorothy A. Christian and Carlie Justus; two sons, Harold Austin Christian and Earnest L. Christian; two brothers, Charlie Webb and Newt Webb; a half brother, Eli Webb; four sisters, Victoria Jewell, Rhoda Kidd, Lucille Whittaker and Annabell Webb; a half sister, Ruby Sage; a son-in-law, Leon Justus; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
