"George Dee Lester, 87 of Steeles,WV, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 24, 2017. Mr. Lester was born May 5, 1930, in Iaeger, WV, the son of the late Pinehill Lester and Alcie Blankenship Lester. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family and was a member of the Church of Christ at Iaeger, WV. He was a retired coal miner and avid gardener. Those who had the pleasure of knowing George knew how he loved his garden. He was known for always having a joke to tell, always had a smile on his face. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lola Jean Steele Lester and a son Steve Lester in 1980. He was also preceded by 2 brothers Woody and Eula and three sisters Della, Etta, and Virgie. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Randel (Janice) Richmond of Daniels, WV; sons Jerry Lester of Inman, SC and Michael (Melissa) Lester of Beckley WV; four grandchildren, Kevin (Missy) Dodson, Stone Lester, Chelsie Lester and Stevie (Jonetta) Lester; three great grandchildren, Taylor Dodson, Layla Lester and Cameron Lester; and a very special niece, Patsy Woolum. Funeral services will be conducted Monday August 28th, 2017 at 1 pm with Kevin Blankenship and David Blankenship officiating at the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in the Steeles Cemetery at Steeles...."
