"Lena Cornelia Day, 91, of Raysal, WV, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 at her residence."Lena was born January 28, 1930, in Welch, WV, a daughter of the late George and Angelina Bell Scott. She was a homemaker and loved her family, the church and her friends and church family. She was blessed with a large family, weather it was her church family or her own. Lena enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends.
"In addition to her parents, George an Angelina Scott, Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Warnie Day; one daughter, Jean Kennedy; two sons, Estal and Kyle Day; one brother, Clyde Scott and one sister Dolly Stanley.
"Survivors include six children, Roy Day and wife Gloria of Yukon, WV, June Cook and husband Lannie of Cleveland, VA, Pete Day and wife Guyna of Jewell Ridge, VA, Delmas Day of Jolo, WV, Dewey Day and wife Anita of Jewell Ridge, VA, and Calvin Day and wife Linda also of Jewell Ridge, VA; a grandson, Micky Day of Atwell, WV; and numerous additional grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and one sister, Mazie Smith of Beartown, WV.
"Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 1 o’clock with Reverend Charlie Cooper, Reverend Gilbert Cooper and Reverend Doug Lowe officiating at the Oak Grove Church of Christ on White Mountain near Jewell Ridge, VA. Burial will follow in the Day Family Cemetery at Pea Patch, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
"Friends may visit with the family Wednesday evening after 6 p.m. at the Oak Grove Church of Christ on White Mountain; evening services will be held at 7 o’clock.
