Fishing and hunting were some of his passions, as well as spending lots of time with his grandchildren and nurturing his garden. Ralph built a family grounded in faith, laughter, and unconditional love. Ralph spent many years working in the coal mines of West Virginia. "William “Bill” Allen Sims, 77, of Raysal, WV, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024 in Bristol Regional Hospital in Bristol, TN."Bill was born January 25, 1947, in Raysal Hollow a son of the late John L. and Ruth M. Martin Sims. Bill was a retired coal miner from U.S. Steel at Pineville Shawnee and # 50 mine; he retired in 2005 with 30 years underground. To his work buddies Bill was known as “Cat” because he was quick and could get into small spaces; he was an electrician in the mines. Bill also worked for Magnavox in Greenville, TN in the late 1960’s. Bill grew up in Raysal Hollow as a child he loved being in the woods and hunting. In his younger years Bill was a volunteer fireman for Raysal, an election poll worker and also an avid hunter.
"In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Christian Sims; a brother, Gene and wife Barbara Sims; a sister, Stormy Mullins; his mother-in-law, Gladys Christian; brothers-in-law, Aldie Mullins, and Bub Ikard, and a step daughter, Patricia Hass.

"Sally Irene Sims, 65, of Raysal, WV, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 in Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, Virginia."Sally was born in Welch, WV, February 16, 1956, a daughter of the late Douglas and Gladys Rose Christian.
"In addition to her parents Douglas and Gladys Christian, Sally was preceded in death by one sister, Cathy Hundley and one daughter Patricia Goodman Hass.
"Survivors include her husband of 34 years, William “Bill” Sims of the home; four daughters, Tanya (David Lee) Goodman of Tazewell, VA, Josey Sims also of Tazewell; Windy ( L.D.) Ashly of Bristol VA, and Misty (Randall) Lamie of Panama City, FL; eight grandchildren, Tyler, Alic, and Keerstin Hass, Morgan Tate, Aaron Hill, Samantha and Calen Ashley and Parker Baldwin; four great grandchildren; and one brother, Johnny (Sharon) Cornthwait of Roanoke, VA.
