Born January 10, 1943 in Welch, he was the son of the late William Henry Blankenship and Rinda Jane Milam Blankenship."Jimmy was a former coal miner. He was of the Pentecostal Faith and he was a member of the Calvary Tabernacle Church in Princeton. Jimmy loved to play the guitar and sing in church. He also loved to fish and loved his family.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Kay Blankenship Powell; six brothers, Cecil, Eddie, William Henry Jr., Elmer, Buddy and Johnny Blankenship; and one sister, Stella Blankenship Akers.
