"Walter Lee Newcomb Sr., 66, of Iaeger, WV, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 10, 2015, at the Veterans' Hospital in Beckley, WV, following a long illness."Walter was born October 13, 1949, in Iaeger, WV, a son of the late Us Newcomb and Joann Stumbo Walker. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. Walter was known throughout Southern West Virginia for his art work and sign painting.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur D. Walker, Harold "Dumping" Walker and Michael Newcomb.
"Survivors include his wife, Jackie Estep Newcomb of the home; one son, Walter Lee Newcomb II and wife Terry of Iaeger, WV; two grandchildren, Emily and Zachary Newcomb of Iaeger, WV; two sisters, Alfreda Riffe of Hanover, WV and Creta Lou Estep and husband Joe of Purlear, NC; four brothers, Sampy D. Newcomb of Lakeland, FL, James Walker, Dallas Walker and wife Ruth, and Bart Walker all of Longpole, WV; five additional sisters, Rachel Blankenship and husband Elzie of Steeles, WV, Ellen Miller of North Carolina, Frankie Polka of Gastonia, NC, Teresa Newcomb and Linda Cabbera both of North Carolina; and two additional brothers, Roger Newcomb of Tennessee, and Hester Newcomb of Pineville, WV.
"In honoring the wishes of the deceased his body has been cremated.
"Friends may visit with the family Tuesday evening December 15, 2015, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV, where a celebration of life service will be conducted at 7 p.m. with Reverend Don Morgan and Reverend Michael Brooks officiating...".
