She was a daughter of the late Joe Burb and Margaret Addair Mullins. Gertrude taught head start and was a teacher’s aide. In her early years she taught in one room schools.
"In addition to her parents Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband Herman Roberts; one sister, Betty Jean Thomas; seven brothers, Fred, Bobby Dean, Donald Lee, Hubert, Warren, Clyde and J.B. Mullins; four half-brothers, Carl, Emory, Noah, and Doc Mullins; and four half-sisters, Dora Handy, Ethel Crosswhite, Cynthia Mullins and Hazel Mullins.
