He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and had served in the Army National Guard. Ozie was a Wyoming County school bus driver for 28 years and a coal truck driver. He was also an avid gun trader.

She also helped in establishing the Word Assembly of God Church in War. Lucille was the last member of her original family.

"The Reverend John Calvin Branch, III , age 62, of Tazewell, Va., passed away Monday, May 3, 2010 at his home. Born September 21, 1947 at War, W.Va., he was a son of Anna Lucille Potter Branch of War, W.Va. and the late John Calvin Branch, Jr. He began his ministry in 1969 as a pastor with the Church of God and later was ordained in the Assemblies of God. He served as Pastor at the Assembly of God Church in Tazewell, Va. from 1987-1997, and over the years was Pastor of churches in West Virginia, Virginia, and Michigan. The Reverend Branch was currently the Pastor of the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Salem, Va. He served the church in many capacities including Missions Director for the Appalachian Assemblies of God, memberships on the Executive Committee and the Executive Presbytery. He was also a Board Member for Teen Challenge for the Appalachian District.
