"Ruby Claire Sims, age 88, of Bristol, Tennessee passed away Monday, January 21, 2013. Born January 22, 1924 at Canebrake, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Della Whitt Christian. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was a loving mother and special grandmother to all her grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew her."In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Brewer; two brothers, Jim Christian and Harold Christian; one son, Rodney Palmer Sims and one granddaughter, Lori Nichole Brewer.
"She is survived by one son, Dane Brewer and wife Jennifer of Bristol, VA; one daughter, Linda Howell and husband Franklin of Tazewell, VA; two brothers, Bob Christian and wife C.C. of Piney Flats, TN and Ret. General Dennis Christian and wife Nancy of Charleston, WV; one sister, Phyllis Gibson of Doran, VA; five grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Father Strother Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
