Olla was born September 15, 1928, in Kolner Rock, VA, a daughter of James Fielden and Ethel Alma Waddell Shumate. She was a retired McDowell County school teacher. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband R.E. (Sonny) Poe, a granddaughter, Melody Daniel, and one sister, Lola Blankenship. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Daniel of Maryville, TN, and a great niece, Veronica Helmandollar of Lerona, WV and many other extended family members and friends.
