"Mr. Ervin Lloyd "Buddy" Dykes, 77, died Friday afternoon (February 12, 2012) at his residence following a brief illness."He was a native of Miami, Fl and had lived most of his life in Okeechobee, FL. He had made his home in Hoboken since July of 1988. He was the son of the late Lloyd Dykes and Berma Faircloth Dykes. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Tina Dykes and a sister Mary Caldwell.
"Mr. Dykes had served with the United States Navy during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. He was a member of New Life Apostolic Church of Blackshear. He was a carpenter and Minister.
"Survivors include his wife of forty one years, Gladys Hatfield Dykes of Hoboken; two daughters, Charolett Jordan of Mansfield, TX, and Angie Swinford (husband John) of Hoboken; two sons, Danny Dykes (wife Carla) and Steve Dykes (wife Maggie) both of Alvarado, TX; six grandchildren, Tiffany Humphrey, Cody Davis, Steven Dykes, Barbara Dykes, Amanda Swinford and Amy Swinford; two great grandchildren, Brooklyn Humphrey and Riley Humphrey; two brothers, Carl Dykes of Homestead, FL and Jimmy Dykes of Lake City, FL; a sister, Helen Metcalf of Lake City, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
"A funeral service will be held at 11:00 Tuesday (February 21, 2012) at Music Funeral Home Chapel.
