"STRINGTOWN — Armenda Bell Horn Payne, 89 years of age, of Stringtown, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, W.Va. with her loving family by her side. Born September 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lilly Wimmer Horn. She was a lifelong resident of Stringtown and was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family and listening to music, especially her favorite singer George Jones. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and friend to all that knew her."In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Harvey Payne; daughter, Shirley England; sons, James H. Payne III and Harrison Dean Payne; grandsons, James H. Payne IV, Tony Horn, Cody Lee Payne; sisters, Polly Tolliver, Nora Lee Jones, Ollie Mae Day; brothers, Jarvey Horn, Ragus Horn, Jack Horn, Bascom (Slimp) Horn, Eugene Cooper; sons-in-law, Johnny England and Robert Dean Bowen.

"ABB'S VALLEY, Va. — Winfred "Wimpy" Reece Harman, 84, of Abb's Valley, Va., passed away, Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Heritage Hall in Tazewell, Va. Born in Jenkinjones, W.Va., he was the son of the late Henry and Bessie Moore Harman. He honorably served his country and retired as a disabled veteran from the US Army in 1952. He was also a member of the DAV.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Eugene Harman; one brother, Earnest A. Harman; and two sisters, Garnett M. White and Willie Mae Dillion.
"Survivors include his wife, Sallie B. Harman of the home; two sons, Glenn Harman (Rita) of Smith Mt. Lake, Va., and Stephen Harman (Joyce) of Goose Creek, S.C.; one brother, Walter "Bo" Harman of Abb's Valley, Va.; three grandsons, Jason Harman of Fla., Norman Harman of Fla., and Justin Harman E6, US Navy of Chesapeake, Va.; one granddaughter whom he spoiled rotten, Alisyn Harman of Roanoke, Va.; and special niece, Sandy "little wimpy" Proctor.
"A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va., with the Rev. Kathy Hagerman officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, Va. Mr. Harman will be cremated according to his wishes. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #14 of Pocahontas, Va., and the VFW 9696 of Bluefield, Va. In remembrance of Wimpy, those that wish, may make a contribution to Rescue 945, 1289 Boissevain Road, Boissevain, Va. The Rodriguez Funeral Home is serving the Harman family.
