Demetress "Meta" Eubanks

"Demetress Eubanks-Lewis of Cleveland, OH received her wings and flew peacefully to heaven on Wednesday Night, November 18, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic (Hospice Division) Main Campus Hospital in Cleveland, OH after suffering from a short illness at the tender age of 60.

"Former resident of Kimball, WV, Demetress or “Meta” as some would call her, was born January 3, 1960 in Welch, WV and was formally adopted at the age of 2 by James H. & Geraldine Eubanks, Sr. She was reared in Kimball, WV and attended the McDowell County Public Schools. As she grew up, she attended First Baptist Church of Kimball and was baptized by late Rev. T.V.A. Winston, Sr. While attending First Baptist Church, she served in various capacities of the Sunday School and Church Ministries. During her years at Welch High School, Demetress played the clarinet in the Marching Band and was a very high achieving student.

"Following her 12th grade year (1978), Meta moved to Roanoke, VA and attended Roanoke Business School. October 1978, she gave birth to her one and only child, Myaish Deron Eubanks. After moving several places, she settled in Cleveland, OH and there she met and married the love of her life, Melvin Laney Lewis, Jr. On April 5, 1982, the two became as one. While in Cleveland, Meta attended Cleveland Cuyahoga Community College, worked with her husband for years in janitorial services, a security guard with Wells Fargo, and was also a Certified Nursing Assistant with the Montefiore Nursing Home, all in Cleveland, OH.

"After several bouts with her illness, Meta became a homemaker who enjoyed movie nights and video games with her in-laws and absolutely loved going fishing with her husband and father. Her most loved pastime was reading novel books, reading the Bible and playing games on her phone.

"Demetress (Meta) was proceeded in death by her husband – Melvin Lewis; her son – Myaish Eubanks; her mother – Geraldine Sword Monroe Eubanks; two brothers – James “Jimmy” Eubanks, Jr. & Cecil “Wonze” King, Jr.; one sister – Regina Ann King; several uncles, aunts and cousins.

"She leaves to cherish her memories, her 96 year old Father – James H. Eubanks, Sr. of Charleston, WV, formerly of Kimball, WV; Sisters, Minister Tamara “Tammy” Eubanks of Charleston, WV, Norma & Sabrina King both of Cleveland, OH; Brothers – Aaron (Dianne) Eubanks, Sr. of Rowland Heights, CA and Paul (Rosalyn) King of Cincinnati, OH; nephews – Jamie (Ashley) Eubanks of Princeton, WV; Antonio “Man” King of Cleveland, OH; Aaron Eubanks, II of Rowland Heights, CA; Michael (Erina) Kim-Eubanks of San Leandro, CA; nieces – Ashley King of Cleveland, OH and Britnie Eubanks of Rowland Heights, CA; Her Niece, whom she helped raise from an early age, Ashley Terry & son of Laurel, MD; A special Niece-in-law, whom assisted her after the death of her husband, Anita Elbakri of Cleveland, OH; a special cousin who grew up with the Eubanks Family, Bishop Fred (Aiesha) Brown of Charlotte, NC. In addition, she has a great host of other nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, many cousins and her In-Laws – the Lewis Family who will miss her greatly as all of us.

"Demetress’ wishes were to be cremated and Gaines Funeral Home of Cleveland, OH is in charge of the crematory. Due to the pandemic of COVID-19 and the Holiday Season, a celebration of life is being planned for a later date."

"Alice Demona West Morgan Davis, 76, of Brenton, W.Va., passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010.
Born Nov. 5, 1933, at Big Branch, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John D. and Gracie Virginia Hatfield West.
Alice Demona was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved watching wrestling and was known as "grandma" to all. She opened her heart and her home to the young and old alike, and was thought of as the "oldest teenager." She loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addtion to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Stanley and Jerry Morgan; a daughter, Peggy Morgan; a sister, Lillian West; three brothers, Nathan, Roy and Eddie West; a grandson, Dominic Castaneda; and a granddaughter, Tara Morgan
She is survived by three sons, Teddy (Rachel) Morgan of Hanover, W.Va., Billy (Phyllis) Morgan of Primer, W.Va., and Paul Morgan of Brenton, W.Va.; one daughter, Verla "Penny" Castaneda of Sunset Beach, Calif.; nine wonderful grandchildren; eight precious great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mavis Morgan of Thomasville, N.C.; Delois Stafford of Hanover, W.Va.; Barbara "Addie" (Archie) Lester of Jacksonville, N.C.; Virginia Mae (John) Lukens of Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers, Charles (Connie) West of Oceana, W.Va.; Jimmy (Vella) West of Ohio; and Tony West of Rockhouse, W.Va. Also a host of other dear family and friends.
Friends may gather with the family at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert today, April 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. with a church service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be noon Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert, W.Va., with the Rev. Gary Browning and Rev. Brad Rose officiating.
Burial will follow at West Morgan Cemetery at Long Branch of Simon, W.Va.
Mounts Funeral Home of Gilbert, W.Va. is in charge of arrangements."

"Dewey was born August 17, 1953, in Welch, WV, a son of the late Dewey and Ethel Smithers Stacy and was a heavy equipment operator.

" Dewey was preceded in death by his parents.

" Survivors his wife of 38 years, Lisa Stacy of the home; two sons, Josh Stacy and Brody Stacy both of Panther, WV; a grandson, Jacob Stacy also of Panther, WV; father-in-law, David Lester of Panther, WV; brother-in-law, Chris Lester and wife Elva of Abingdon, VA; special friend, Jody Reed of Panther, WV; aunts, Vivian Porter-Hutto of Orangeburg, SC and Shelby Gentry of Fayetteville, NC; and an uncle Jerry Smithers of Abingdon, VA.

"Brody Paul Stacy, 32, of Panther, WV, died May 17, 2017. Brody was born February 20, 1985, in Bluefield, WV, a son of Lisa Lester and the late Dewey Stephen Stacy. He was a diesel mechanic for KC Transport, loved working, playing with kids and was always laughing and joking. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Keitha Lester and paternal grandparents, Dewey and Ethel Stacy. Survivors include his son, Logan McCreedy -Stacy and his fiancée, Amber McCreedy both of Johnson City, TN; one brother Josh Stacy of Panther, WV; a nephew, Jacob Stacy also of Panther, WV; a niece, Jaeley Blankenship of Isaban, WV; an uncle, Chris Lester and wife Elva of Abingdon, VA; his sissy, Sharon Salyers and extended families and friends that are too numerous to name. In honoring the wishes of the deceased his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 1 o'clock with Old Regular Baptist Church Elders officiating at the Little Dove Old Regular Baptist Church at Guesses Fork near Hurley, VA. ..."
