"Elza Russell Ford was born August 26, 1916 in Shaweetown, Gallatin County, Illinois to Elza Blair Ford and Frieda Faye Knight. He was the second born of 6 children: Christine Marie, Elza Russell, Hazel Ford (who died in infancy), Paula Sue, Lois Ethel (who died in infancy), and Patricia Ann. They lived approximately 6 miles outside of Paris. Russell graduated in 1936 from Paris High School."Helen Louise Marchant's parents moved to Illinois and bought 52 acres of farmland and her father became a farmer. Helen graduated from Oakland High School in 1941.
"Helen had a girlfriend, Mary Ann, who was dating Russell. She would come over to Helen's house and let her read the letters she got from him which Helen thought were very boring! One night at a dance Russ asked her to dance and well....Russell and Helen were married on December 25, 1941 at the Methodist Church in Paris, Illinois while he was home on leave. Helen then accompanied Russell to Grand Island, Nebraska where they stayed until he was shipped overseas. They were blessed with 2 daughters: Linda Lou and Gloria Jean.
"In the early 40's Russell served our country during World War II in the Air Force. He was stationed in Grand Island, Nebraska until he was sent to Trinidad.
"Russell was a carpenter and belonged to Local 1815 in Santa Ana, California for 35 years. He also belonged to the Paris Masonic Lodge #268 and Paris American Legion Post 211. Helen worked at U. O. Colson Advertising Company in Paris for 15 years as an Order Editor. When they moved to California in 1963, she went to work for Global Van Lines, handling the records for all Military Personnel moves, retiring in 1971.
"Helen and Russ both belonged to the Crystal Cathedral Church in Garden Grove, California. Helen enjoys reading and puzzles and they both enjoyed square dancing.
"Russell died February 15, 1989 in Fountain Valley, Orange County, California from Pancreatic Cancer. He is buried in the Edgar County Cemetary, Paris, Illinois."

"On Wednesday, February 9, 2022 Mrs. Valarie Regina Easley age 71, a long time resident of Northfork, WV gained her wings as she peacefully departed this life at the Cabell-Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. She was born in Welch, WV on November 7, 1950 and the daughter of the late Bill and Virginia (Scruggs) Mitchell. She was educated in the McDowell County Public School System. She was a homemaker and loved caring for her family. It was her joy to cook and do laundry. She enjoyed shopping and watching television especially the reality shows. Valarie will be remembered for her pleasant spirit, meeting others always with a smile as she never met a stranger. She had a willingness to help anyone in anyway, it didn't matter how large or small. Valarie's "catch phrase," was "What You Mean"? In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Priscilla Easley, one brother, LeRoy James Scruggs and her long time companion, Tommy Bigelow. Mrs. Valarie Regina Easley leaves life long, cherished memories to her children: Eugene T. Easley Jr. of Bluefield, WV, Denise R. Easley of Kimball, WV and Casaunder M. "Linda Levone Workman, 53, of Ridgeview WV went home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2019 at CAMC Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of Lavy Davis of Hanover and the late Lemmie Lester. Linda was born on February 18, 1966. Her hobbies included playing with her grand babies and taking care of her farm. She was preceded in death by her father Lemmie Lester, her stepfather Gora Davis, and brother Seth Andrew Lester. Those left to cherish her memory are her mother Lavy Davis of Hanover, husband David Ray Workman of Ridgeview, sons: Stevie Lester (Joanetta) of Chapmanville; David Alin Workman (Rosie) of Charleston; Tyler Workman of Chapmanville; James Bogner (Meagan) of Alabama; 14 grandchildren; sister Patricia Walker (Lawrence) of Hanover; brother Douglas Lester (Ruth) of Hanover; mother-in-law Jewell Sammons of Chapmanville; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
