"ROCKY GAP, Va. — ROCKY GAP, Va. — Joe Crockett Hagerman, 87, of Rocky Gap, Va., son of the late William Riley "W.R." and Mary Pruitt Hagerman, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Joe C. Hagerman formerly lived in McDowell County, Jolo, W.Va., but had resided in Bland County for 31 years. He preached many years in McDowell County and saw many souls saved. He was a member of the Laurel Fork Baptist Church and was preceded in death by brothers, Shade, Mose, Roosvelt, Vester, John R., Ulis, Jim, Mitch; and sister Clara Woody. He was married to Leatrice Joye Payne Hagerman for 67 years. Crockett and Joye worked together at the Bland Mission for over 25 years until their health began to fail. They had four boys and three girls, Joetta Hagerman and Oscar Roberts of Rocky Gap, Va., Minda Hagerman Bishop of Norge, Va., Mary Hagerman and Gene Plotts of Oberlin, Kan., Freddie and Loretta Baker Hagerman of Cleveland, N.C., Neal and Sharon Roberts Hagerman of Rural Retreat, Va., Roger and Carol Blankenship Hagerman of Statesville, N.C., Randy and Judith Smith Hagerman of Carleton, Micha.; sister, Myrtle Vance of Jolo, W.Va.; special sister-in-law, neighbor and caregiver, Janet MacDonald of Rocky Gap, Va.; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
