"Robert James Compton, 64, of Jolo, WV passed away December 4, 2022 at his residence."Robert was born January 8, 1958 in Iaeger, WV a son of the late Miles and Bessie Stewart Compton. Robert was a retired coal; a member of the Raysal Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Bradshaw Church of God.
"In addition to his parents Robert was preceded in death by one sister, Rhoda Louise; father and mother-n-law, Ed and Carrie Stress; and a brother-in-law, Tom Simons.
"Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Margaret Compton of the home; two sons, Scotty Hughes and wife Crystal of Raysal. WV and David Hughes and wife Dara of Elbert, WV; two grandsons, Robert Hughes who was his namesake and Donovan Poore and wife Kristial; granddaughter Hannah Burks; great granddaughter, Nevaeh Poore; three sisters Linda Simons, Alice Roberts and husband Halsey and Benda Goodman; sister-in-law, Donna Thornsbury and several nieces and nephews.
"Funeral services will be Friday, December 9, 2022 at 11 o’clock with Pastor Bobby Carter and Pastor Brian Patterson officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA.
"Serving as pallbearers will be family, friends and members of the Raysal Volunteer Fire Department.

February 20, 1950 in Jesse, WV a son of the late Joseph Forest and Sadie Stewart. David is a member of the
Matheny United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Director and a
member of the Financial Board. He is a member of the UMWA Local Union 1503 and worked at Harris Mines for
30 years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his in-laws Fred and Zella Gunnoe; and sister and
brother-in-law Lola and Ed Stewart. Survivors include his loving wife Joselene Gunnoe Stewart; children
Anthony "Tony" Stewart and wife Michelle of Panther, Carrie Jenkins of Charlotte, NC and Amy Waddell of Mt.
Holly, NC; grandchildren Tyler Stewart of the home, Paul Duty of Charlotte, NC, Jonah Stewart of Gastonia, NC
and Glen Stewart of Panther; brothers Ash P. Stewart, Earl Stewart and wife Alice, Windell Stewart and wife
Brenda and Dale Stewart and wife Teresa all of Matheny; sisters Linda Counts and husband Jack of Matheny,
Louise Stewart and husband Calvin of Matheny, Lakie Bailey and husband Bernard all of Oceana and Rhonda
