"Hobert Lewis Cook, 80, of Berwind, WV, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022 at his residence. Born November 15, 1941 in Raysal, WV he was the son of the late Marshall Cook and Dora Short Cook.
Hobert was a former coalminer, former Chief of Police in War, and he was a preacher of the Word of God for over 30 years. He also ran Price’s Kitchen at Canebrake."In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
"Those left to cherish his memories are three sons, Hobert Cook and wife Pam of Berwind, Arnold Cook of Asheboro, NC, Joseph Cook of War; four daughter, Paula Miller and husband Loren of Iva, SC, Chyann Cook of Welch, Likeonly Payne and husband David of Bradshaw, Dorthea Mullins of the home who also was his caretaker; one brother, Earl Cook and wife Lois of Wytheville, VA; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
"Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the Jesus Church of Bartley, with the Reverends David Payne, Harvey Payne and Pete Woods, officiating. Burial will follow in the Wood’s and Ball Cemetery on Oozley Hollow Road in Paynesville.

Born November 20, 1948 in Caretta, WV, he was the son of the late James Worley Duty and Julia Helen Shivak Duty."James was a graduate of Big Creek High School in 1967 and he was a member of the East War Advent Christian Church since 1956 and faithfully served his church in many capacities.
