Maria Grace Colombo Cure passed away on sept. 7 in Huntington, WV.
She was born on march 14, 1939,in Elbert, the youngest of 7 children
to Pete and Angelina Colombo. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Sidney Rodger cure, her parents, Pete and Angelina, her
brothers, Valentino, Carlo, and Pete "bobo", and her sisters rose Mary
Bales and Antoinette Colombo, and nephew James 'Coney' bales.

Barboursville, sister aster Yanesh of Elbert, brother-in-law James Cure
and companion Sandra Teichmann of Naples, fl., sister-in-law Kristin

sister-in-law Helen Colombo of Elbert. Maria also leaves behind a host
of nieces and nephews among which are: Kenneth "frog" bales and wife

Colombo and wife Michelle of York, pa, Teresa Colombo of Elbert, Cathy
and Cecil Patterson, jean Colombo and fiancé Donnie Covert of

Colombo and companion Michael Clark of glen Easton, Gino Colombo and
wife Sharon of Richmond, VA. and Casey Cure of Bluefield, VA. great

Maria attended Gary high school where she was a majorette and played
The French horn in the marching band. She attended Mount St. Joseph's
Catholic college in Cincinnati where she graduated in 1961 with a
Degree in elementary education and theology. She attended West
Virginia university where she received her master's degree plus
additional hours. Beginning her 41 --year teaching career at Gary
Elementary school, she eventually spent the majority of her career
Teaching first grade at Welch Elementary School.
Maria was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma teachers honor society, the American Legion and the McDowell County
Women's' club, in addition to being a member of the our lady of victory
altar society, and a catechism teacher for many years. She was also
active with the Gary high school alumni association and last fall, she participated in the 'roll out the barrel' event at mount view high school. Maria was also a private caterer, bringing class and beauty to
events with her signature lace tablecloths and sliver wine
goblets. Maria's wvu tailgates were stuff of legend, as she made
tailgating an art form and the 'blue lot will surely miss her.

our lady of victory catholic church in Gary, with father (Tony) Louis
Anthony Lascon and Fr. Daniel Pisano officiating. Entombment at the
