" He was a resident of McDowell County all of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy on Destroyers during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion, Forty and Eight, and the V.F.W. He was a retired coal miner and a co-owner of Angus Mining.
"In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Coleman Austin, one daughter, Delores Ann Austin, and two brothers, Robert and Harry Austin.
"Survivors include two sons, Danny Austin, and wife Lynn of Bluefield, WV, and Dallas Austin and wife Shelley of Coalwood WV, one daughter, Connie Patsey and husband Robin of Coalwood WV; and numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
" Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 11 A.M. from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch WV with Pastor Lacy Griffith, officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. ..."
