"Thomas Larry Shumate 67, of Ravencliff went home to be with his Lord, on Thursday September 27, 2018, following a long illness."Born April 23, 1951 at McGraws, he was the son of the late Frank and Mildred Ellis Shumate.
"Thomas was a coal miner, with over twenty seven years of service, working at the Eastern mines, at Kopperston. He was an avid coon hunter and fisherman. He loved his family and enjoyed being with them. Thomas was a Christian and was devoted to the Lord.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Robert Shumate, and his sister, Ollie Mae Tilley.
"Those left to cherish his memory, include his loving wife of almost forty seven years, Patricia Hall Shumate, one daughter, Carrie Shumate and her companion, Eric Simerly, an adopted granddaughter, Emilie Shumate, one granddaughter, Kaylie Shumate, two brothers, Bill Holhouser and Charlie Shumate, one sister, Barbara Meadows, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family, and many friends.
"Services will be Wednesday October 3, 2018 at 1pm in the Chapel of Evans-Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville, with Pastor John Toler officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ravencliff. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
"Friends may gather with the family from 11:00am until service time Wednesday at the funeral home."

"Wanda Marie Hall Skeens, 58, of Beckley, WV passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. She was born on January 30, 1968 in Mullens, WV a daughter of the late Robert and Barbara Webb Hall. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Gary Skeens, her two brothers Chuck Hall and Robert Todd Hall. Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter Dominique Dixon of Kenna, a son Roger Lee Cozort, Jr. and wife Alley of Beckley, two sisters Sandra Fortner, and Pat Shumate both of Ravencliff, four brothers Harold Hall, Randy Hall and wife Patty, Mark Hall all of Glen Rogers, and Thomas Hall of Cross Lanes, a special nephew Scotty Hall of Mullens, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 24th in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Rev. Johnny Toler officiating. She will be laid to rest in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ravencliff, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12 pm until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
