"HILO, Hawaii — Lonnie G. Stone passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the age of 51.
"He was the son of Wayne and Florence Stone of Pierpoint. "After graduating from Mullens High School in 1975, Lonnie joined the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. After leaving the Army, he made his home in Hilo, Hawaii. He came back to West Virginia in 2001 for a short period, but Hawaii called his heart. "Lonnie had many hobbies including gardening. He especially liked working with flowers and admired his Uncle James Privett’s black iris, for which he lovingly transplanted in his parents’ garden. "He is survived by his parents; his brother, Lewis and wife, Gracie, of Mullens; his brother, James and his wife, Ronda, of Itmann; and a sister, Joyce and her husband, Lonnie, of Winston-Salem, N.C. He was the proud father of daughters, Tina of Florida, and Tiffany of Hawaii. He also has many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that will miss him. "A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009, at the Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Butch Acord officiating..."

"GILBERT — Judy Hazel Hatfield “Jack” (Jackie) Trent, 90, died at 3:21 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Logan Regional Medical Center following a short illness."Born March 2, 1916, at Simon, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Pearl Hatfield Hatfield, stepmother, the late Leona Hatfield.
"She was preceded in death by her husband, Drewey Halsey Trent; two brothers, Fred Hatfield and Dr. Chess Hatfield; and three sisters, Ruth Spratt, Garnett “Sissy” Hatfield and Angie Matthews Walker.
"Mrs. Trent was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
"Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Mlekush and husband, Ronald, of Moline, Ill., and Beverly Childers and husband, Bobby, of Hanover, W.Va., and Hanover, Md.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also a special caregiver, Sue Addair of Justice, and the UMWA nurse, Susan Whited of Man.
