"Born Oct. 15, 1942, at Glen Fork, he was the son of the late Jefferson D. and Ruth Schlager Brooks.
"David was a lifelong resident of Glen Fork and a retired coal miner from Maple Meadow Mining Co. He was a member of the Glen Fork Baptist Temple and a 1961 graduate of Glen Rogers High School. An avid hunter and fisherman, David loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick “Tom” Brooks.
"Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Linda Elswick Brooks; two sons, Robert David Brooks Jr. of Jefferson City, Tenn. and Eric Scott Brooks and his wife, Jennifer, of Beckley; a daughter, Kimberly Brooks Ellis and her husband, Bill, of Morristown, Tenn.; and four grandchildren, Noah Ellis, Clay Brooks, Morgan Brooks and Faith Brooks..."
