"James Arthur Smith, 92, died Friday, June 14, 2002, in a Welch hospital. Born May 2, 1910, in Pike County, Ky., he was the son of the late Henry C. and Ollie P. McCoy Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Old Regular Baptist Church and had been a Wyoming County resident for 65 years. He worked for the Wyoming County Board of Education and in the logging industry. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William C. Smith, Prince Smith and Arnold Smith; and three sisters, Ada Mae Nichols, Lydia Robinson and Annie Robinson. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Blanche Lusk Smith; 10 sons, Howard Smith of Lakeland, Fla., B.C. Smith and wife Sandy of Warner Robins, Ga., Thomas Smith and wife Sandy of Trinity, N.C., Arthur Smith and wife Sandy of Hammonton, N.J., Mervin Smith and wife Robin of Charleston, Roger Smith and wife Debbie of Pineville, James Smith and wife Debbie of Lynco, David Smith of Fanrock, Eugene Smith and wife Debbie of Fanrock and George Smith and wife Wendy of Lynco; three daughters, Ollie Bognar and husband John of Ocala, Fla., Margaret Stafford and husband Charles of Oceana and Thelma Cook of Fanrock; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
