"PINEVILLE — L. R. Simmons, 75, of Pineville, West Virginia, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at Wyoming Continuous Care following a long illness. He was born October 3, 1935, in McDowell County, the son of the late Robert Mont Simmons and Ethel Mae Mullins. "Mr. Simmons was a self-employed water well driller, operating Simmons Well Drilling for many years. He made many friends over the years while traveling to well sites in McDowell and Wyoming counties. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed many different kinds of gospel music. "He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lee Simmons, one brother, Robert M. Simmons, Jr., of Cool Ridge, WV, and brothers-in-law, Eugene Campbell and Virgil Fisher. "He is survived by two daughters, Peggy and Mike Goode, of Pineville, and Kim Simmons and Lynne Varcoe, of Proctorville, OH, two sisters, Joyce Campbell of Yorktown, Virginia, and Betty Fisher, of Sevierville, TN, one grandson, Jeff Goode and his wife, Brittany, of Charleston, WV, and one granddaughter, Ashleigh Goode and J. R. Baker, also of Charleston, WV. In addition he is also survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Simmons of Cool Ridge, WV. "A celebration of his life will be held at the Calfee Funeral Service in Pineville at 1 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2011, with Rev. Matthew Mitchell officiating. "ROCKVIEW — Shirley Lee Simmons passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division, following a sudden illness. "Born in Pineville, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Sonia Mullins Morgan. "Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Wyoming County. She was a member of Pineville Church of the Nazarene for 25 years where she was a member of the choir and worked with the Caravan and Vacation Bible School. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She was loved so very much by her husband, children and grandchildren. Shirley was fun to be around and had a zest for life. She radiated love and caring and touched many lives. She deeply loved God, her family and her church family. "Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Lonnie R. Simmons; two daughters, Peggy S.
