'KOPPERSTON-Alvin "Jean" Lamb passed from his earthly home on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, to join his parents James Woodrow and Fairie B. Gunter Lamb in their heavenly home.
'"Jean" as known to all of his family and friends was born April 24, 1934 in Glen Rogers, WV.
"Jean worked 40 years as a coal miner which consisted of working first beside his father at the Kopperston shop and retiring in 1992, from Eastern Coal Corp. and Harris Prep Plant as Plant Foreman. He graduated from Oceana High School in 1952, which he also had the honor that year to be captain of the football team.
"After many years of long work Jean was also able to accomplish receiving his Bachelors Degree in Science with a major in Accounting from Concord College in 1986. Early in life Jean enjoyed playing football and tennis. Later in life Jean enjoyed watching all sports especially when it came to basketball or football involving WVU Mountaineers.
"Other things Jean enjoyed doing was being with family and friends and attending Toneda Baptist Church since a young child. He enjoyed working outside, having a large garden, sewing, telling his big tales of his family and friends, which were repeated several times but those who loved him would just smile and nod and decorating cakes for the family and friends.
"Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife and care giver of 48 years, Lutia Maynard Lamb of Kopperston; his loving daughter Ann Start and her husband, Ric of Henderson, NC.; Ann referred to her daddy as "Poppie doodles." a sister, Bethel Baker and husband, Murray of Auburn, WA; two brothers, James W. Lamb, Jr., and wife Lola of Columbia SC. and Dr. Roy Lamb and his wife Dr. Janie Lamb of Troy, AL.; an aunt, Laura Poke of Lynchburg, VA.; and a host of nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
"A celebration of Jean's life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with Rev. James Hamrick and Rev. Ron Harvey officiating. Jean will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV..."

"Lutia Ann Lamb Prichard, 56, of Henderson, NC, formerly of Oceana, WV went home to be with the Lord on
January 9, 2020 at her home following a short illness. She was born on May 9, 1963 in Welch, WV the daughter
Lutia Maynard Lamb of Kopperston and the late Alvin J. Lamb. Ann is a 1981 graduate of Oceana High School, a
member of Toneda Missionary Baptist Church and the previous owner Ann's Fashion in Oceana.. In addition to
her father she is preceded in death by her grandparents Edna and Bert Maynard and Woodrow and Fairie Lamb;
and uncle Wade Maynard; and an Aunt Sadie DeLong. In addition to her mother survivors include her loving
husband Eric Prichard; three aunts Edra Smith of Columbus, OH, Ruth (Ron Altizer) Whittington of Oceana and
Bethel (Murray) Baker of Seattle, WA; two uncles James (Lola) Lamb of Chapin, SC and Roy (Jane) Lamb of AL;
special friend who was like a father Gary Mitchell; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services
will be held 10:30 am on Friday January17 in The Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Acord
and Bro. Bert Douglas Smith officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 5-8:00 pm on Thursday at the
funeral home. In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated following the funeral. The family is being served
