"Gary Wayne Smith, 63, of Cedar Creek, WV passed away on November 22, 2025 at Advent Health Ocala, FL. He was born on October 16, 1962 in Pineville, WV a son of Inis Justus Smith of Cedar Creek and the late Jerry Lee Smith. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents Elizabeth Blankenship, James Smith, LeLah Justus, and Carl Justus, a nephew Corey Adam Wells, and a niece Chelsea Alexis Smith. In addition to his mother, Iris Smith, those left to cherish his memory include his loving children Leigha Inez Smith and Gary Smith and wife Hailea Smith, grandchildren Trayaha Lee Smith, Olivia Rose Smith, and Sophia Kate Smith, brothers Clint Smith and wife Mary, Jerry Lee Smith, Jr. and sisters Terri Marsons and husband Ivan, Angela Morgan and husband Darell, and Elizabeth Smith, Aunt Drema Lester, nieces and nephews Dustin Smith, Sarah Smith, Jr. Wells, Keith Wells, Stephen Wells, Corey Wells, Jayden Smith, Jaxion Smith, Brittany Morgan, Ashley Steele, Breana Tucker, and Abigail Mae Mcalpin, cousin Janice Hagerman Claton, and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Monday, December 8, 2025 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, WV with Pastor Charlie Abraham officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 11 am until time of service on Monday at the funeral home. "Born May 21, 1947, at East Gulf, she was the daughter of Anna Holley of Pineville and the late Elmer Eller.
"She was a registered nurse with 39 years of service at Denver Presbyterian Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. Rita was very dedicated to her career and took pride in being the head nurse of her wing for many, many years.
