"LYNCO — Gayther Arvus Johnson, 75, of Lynco, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2011. He was born January 22, 1935, in Hemphill, W.Va., a son of the late Gayther William and Nora Beatrice Mullins Johnson. "Arvus was a retired coal miner and a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. "His brother Johnny Johnson also preceded him in death. "Survivors include four daughters Ann Marcum of Alabama, Donna Fox and Diana Hayes, both of Florida, and Sherry Taylor of Chicago, Ill.; four sons, Joe Johnson of Chicago, Ill., Rick Johnson of Lynco, Shawn Johnson of Tennessee, and Tony Johnson of Oceana; three sisters, Nancy Havert of Beckley, Erdene Hiller of Colonial Beach, Va., and Debbie Wilson of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, Doug Johnson and Bill Johnson, both of Lynco, and Mike Johnson of Beckley; nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends. "Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2011, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home with Rev. William Cook officiating. Arvus’s cremains will be laid to rest in the Cook Cemetery, Lynco. Wyoming County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Rites..."
