Fain, 52, of Bluefield, formerly of Roderfield, passed away on Dec. 30, 2010 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. after battling a severe lung disease."Born on Sept. 25, 1958, he was a son of Virginia Dalton Fain Potter of Statesville, N.C. and the late Samuel E. Fain. Samuel worked as a coal miner in McDowell County for many years. He was a devoted father, brother, son, and a proud grandfather. He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. His kindness and willingness to always help others will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him and loved him.
"In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Minnie Fain; maternal grandparents, Hubert and Lorene Dalton; two brothers, Duane and Kirby Fain; and 2 nephews, Jeremy Fain and Mark Stone.
"Other survivors include his mother, Virginia Dalton Fain Potter of Statesville, N.C., son Kenneth Fain and wife Farrah of Raleigh, N.C., daughter Jacqueline Fain Jones and husband Timmy of Bluefield, grandchildren Hunter and Jordan Jones of Bluefield, brother Mike Fain and wife Alice of Premier, sisters Diane Rodliff and husband Tommy of Bradshaw Mountain, Kim Lester and husband Clarence of Bradshaw Mountain, and Crystal Yount and husband Harold of Statesville, N.C. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
