"Robert Grant “Bob” Johnson Sr., 81, of Beckley, passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, in Bowers Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer.
"Born Oct. 10, 1929, at Rhodell, he was the son of the late Samuel David and Ida Mae Stewart Johnson.
"Bob was a retired chief electrician for A. T. Massey. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the YMCA of Southern West Virginia. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ray Johnson; and four sisters, Stella Mae Blevins, Iris Glea Morgan; Naomi “Boots” Webb and Ruby Hensley.
"Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Kathy Faye Hearn Johnson; four sons, Anthony Dwayne Johnson and his wife, Meagan, Robert Grant Johnson Jr. and his wife, Karen,, Samuel David Johnson and Kalen York Johnson, all of Beckley; a daughter, Vicki Nester of Oceana; six sisters, Lillian Cook of Keyrock, Irene Shingledecker of Shippensburg, Pa., Claris Lea Fite of Fanrock, Loretta June Shanner of Hanover, Pa., Eva Seconder and her husband, Jack, of Waterford, Mich., and Kay Allen of Pineville; three grandsons, Brandon James Johnson, Matthew Wayne Johnson and Tyler Grant Johnson, all of Beckley; and his faithful companion, Romeo."
