"ADVANCE, N.C. — Greta Delores McKinney Mills Bishop, 94, of Advance, formerly of Barkers Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the residence of her daughter, Peggy Joyner following a long illness.
Born September 14, 1918, at Beartown, she was the daughter of the late Leonard McKinney and Rebecca Church McKinney.
Greta was a member of the Mullens Family Worship Center. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, but most of all she was a Godly woman who would take people in and take care of them, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by two husbands, Oliver Mills and Jessie James Bishop; five sons, Johnny Mills, Eugene Mills, Otis Mills, James Hubert Mills, and Melvin Mills; one daughter, Bobbie Jean Shrewsberry; three grandsons, Brian Keith O'Neal, Eddie Dean Shrewsberry, and Kenneth Ray Bishop; two great grandsons, Dewey Shrewsberry Jr. and Dustin Shrewsberry; two great granddaughters, Amber Massey and Ashley Coe; and several brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory are four daughters, Helsie O'Neal and her husband, William of Allen Junction, Phyllis Mills and her husband, Billy of Basin, Drema Shrewsbury and her husband, Alvin of Barkers Ridge, and Peggy Joyner and her husband, Eddie of Advance, N.C.; 30 grandchildren; 75 great grandchildren; 50 great great grandchildren; one brother; three sisters; and a very special friend, Jeff Shrewsberry of North Carolina.
The family would like to thank Peggy Joyner (our sister) for the wonderful loving care she gave our Mother. God will bless you for this.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Mullens Family Worship Center, with Rev. Chuck Morgan and Pastor John Rogers. Burial will follow in the John H. McKinney Cemetery at Basin...."

"Dillard is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Bishop Mills; four daughters, Debra Shrewsbury and husband, Russell, of Itmann, Carol O?Neal and husband, Ronnie, of Mossy, Alice Lambert and husband, Kermit, of Basin, and Rita Lester and husband, Anthony, of Basin; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four adopted grandchildren.
Dillard was a faithful member of the Herndon Free Will Baptist Church. His presence will be missed by all, especially his family and his church family.
"Dillard worked in the coal mines for 33 years, having retired from East Gulf at Maben Energy Mines, and was a member of the UMWA.
"Dillard enjoyed spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. In his spare time, when his health permitted, he loved to hunt, fish, and camp.
