"STEELES — Earl Mansfield Lockhart, 76, of Steeles, near Hanover, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Duke University Hospital.
"Mr. Lockhart was born Sept. 26, 1930, at Longpole, near Iaeger, a son of the late Loranzo and Genette Cline Lockhart.
"He worked over 31 years in the coal mines, retiring from Robinson and Phillips Coal Co., and was a life member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He also was a member of Bethany Regular Baptist Church at Ikes Fork and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mansfield was a 12 1/2-year lung transplant survivor.
"In addition to his parents, three brothers, John, Creed and Cecil Lockhart, preceded him in death.
"Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Wanda Riffe Lockhart; three sons, Robert Mansfield Lockhart and wife, Kim, of King's Mountain, N.C., Richard Dow Lockhart of Gastonia, N.C., and Ryan Earl Lockhart and wife, Crystal, of Winfield; a brother, Shirley Lockhart of Newark, Del.; two sisters, Pearl Burdette of Iaeger and Joanne Blankenship of Rural Retreat, Va.; and two grandchildren, Erin and Randal Lockhart of King's Mountain.

"Wanda Phyllis Riffe Lockhart, 91, of Little Huff Creek Road in Hanover, WV, passed away, April 20, 2026, in Logan Regional Hospital."Wanda Lockhart was born on May 29th, 1934, at home on Little Huff Creek Road in Hanover, WV as a daughter to the late Henry Fernandez and Pearl Adams Riffe. Mrs. Lockhart was a graduate of Baileysville High School, had a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Concord College, and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Marshall University. Mrs. Lockhart took great pride in being an educator for 35 years. Students that she had in her classroom became one of “Her Kids” and held a special place in her heart for life. Mrs. Lockhart was a member of the Bethany Regular Baptist Church at Ikes Fork, and an avid cook with exceptional culinary skills.
"Wanda Lockhart was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gurvis Grat Riffe and Henry Ernest Riffe, one sister Eva Riffe, her husband of 47 years Earl Mansfield Lockhart and her eldest son, Robert Mansfield Lockhart.
