"Complications from a sinus condition, which caused paralysis of his brain, claimed the life at 9:30 Thursday night of one of Pineville's foremost teen-agers, George Frederick Growe, 20, who was in his sophomore year at Marshall College.
Rushed to the Cabell-Huntington Hospital Wednesday, physicians first believed that young Growe was paralyzed by Spinal meningitis, but an autopsy performed early Friday morning discounted this diagnosis.
"Son of J. B. and Roxie Hatfield Growe, of Wyoming, the youth completed high school as an honor student at Pineville High School in May, 1959 and has had an outstanding scholastic record in his brief period of enrollment at Marshall, where he was majoring in Political Science, considered by his family as a prelude to a law degree.
"On All-County Team
"In addition to an outstanding scholastic record, young Growe won countywide football honors in his senior year at the local school, being named to the all-county team. He was co-captain the same year. He played football throughout the four years, basketball two years and had a letter in track at PHS.
"Other accomplishments reflected by a Minuteman Yearbook indicate that he was a member of the Pep Club, Minuteman Club, Varsity Club and held officer posts in Drill Corp throughout a two-year period. In his senior year, Growe served on the school Student Council.
"Surviving besides his parents are: one brother, J. B. Jr., of Pineville; four sisters, Mrs. Willis Cook of Jesse; Mrs. Woodrow Winfrey and Mrs. George Fox, both of Longmont, Colorado; and Mrs. Ray Hatfield of Baltimore, Maryland.

"While final arrangements are incomplete, a Robertson and Foglesong ambulance was dispatched to Huntington at 7:30 Friday morning and the body will be brought directly to Pineville. Burial will be in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.."
