"A kind and loving Child of God, Stanley Glenn Collins, 57 of Simon, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join his loved ones waiting for him in heaven, on Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Davy."Born on December 23, 1952 at Simon, he was the son of the late Benjamin Collins and the late Edith Lawrence Thomas.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Jody Thomas and Steve Collins and one sister, Rosalee Walker.
"Stanley was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered for his free heart and giving spirit. He supported several organizations and was passionate about the care of children. He was a member of the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church, a disabled coal miner, and a member of the UMWA local 7870, district 29.
"He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
"Those left to love and cherish his memory and to carry on his legacy include his three daughters: Amanda Mullins and Casey Collins, both of Winfield, and Miranda (Ricky) Morgan of Simon; his four precious grandchildren: Emma Mullins, Elias McSpadden, and Peyton and Paige Morgan; his five brothers: Nick Collins of Georgia, Randall Thomas, Rick Collins, and Jessie Collins, all of Simon, and Ronnie Jordan of Bluefield; and a host of other dear family and friends.
"Friends may gather with the family, to celebrate Stanley’s life, at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church at Simon, on Tuesday, August 31st and Wednesday, September 1st, after 6:00 pm. A church service will be held at 7:00 pm.
"Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 2nd at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Belcher and Rev. Lonnie Blankenship officiating.
