"PAUL H. METZ, 73, of 103 W. Main St, Fairfield, died Wednesday, April 14, in Gettysburg Hospital.

"Born Sept. 7, 1925 in Hamiltonban, he was the son of the late Isaac and Minnie Kump Metz. He was married to Judy Lowe Metz.

"Mr. Metz was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Fairfield, where he served as trustree and as a member of the building committee. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Patton's 5th Army Quartermaster Division. He was owner and operator of Metz's Hardware, Fairfield, with his wife and son for 31 years. He was formerly employed by Gettysburg Hardware for 18 years. Mr. Metz was a life member of the Fairfield Lions Club.

"Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, David A. Metz of Fairfield; two grandchildren; one brother, Clyde Metz of Cashtown; and one sister, Martha M. Baker of Gettysburg.

"Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17, at 10:30 a.m , at Fellowship Baptist Church, Fairfield, with Rev. Dr. William E. Burcher officiating. Interment will be in Fairfield Union Cemetery...."

"NEW OXFORD Adolphus U. Walker, Jr, 87, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Holy Spirit Hospital. He was the husband of the late Esther P. (Dellinger) Walker, who died February 19, 2008. He was born May 13, 1922, in Dunham, Ky., the son of the late Adolphus U. and Ruth E. (Elledge) Walker, Sr.

"He was a member of St. Paul's 'The Pines' Lutheran Church in New Oxford, Hebron Lodge #465, New Oxford, New Oxford Social & Athletic Club, Gettysburg Eagles, a past president of the New Oxford AARP, and a co-founder of the Hunterstown Go Cart Club. He was also a former member of the Hunterstown Ruritan Club and the New Oxford Lions Club.

"Adolphus is survived by three sons, Richard U. Walker, Sr., and his wife, Henrietta of Orrtanna, James P. Walker and his wife, Sueanne of Estero, Fla., and John K. Walker and his wife, Sherri of Millsboro, Del.; three daughters, Susan C. Mosser and her husband, William of New Oxford, Sally K. Weikert and her husband, Robert of Gettysburg, and Kimberly A. Walker of Biglerville; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren; and two brothers, George Walker of King of Prussia and William Walker of New Oxford.

"He was predeceased by three brothers; Ernest Walker, Sr, Kenneth Walker, Sr, and Thomas Walker. "Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. from St. Paul's 'The Pines' Lutheran Church, 1535 Hunterstown-Hampton Rd, New Oxford, with his pastor, the Rev. Benson Paull, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery...."
