"Mr. Brooks was of the Baptist faith. He served in the US Army and was a member of UMWA Local 7604. He worked for Eastern Associated Coal, Kopperston No. 2 Mine, for 42 years. Bernard enjoyed camping, joking and being with his family.
"In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Herman Jennings Brooks.

"Norma Jean Cook Brooks, 75, of Sabine passed away at home Saturday, March 15, 2014 following a short illness.Born July 31, 1938 in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late Oley Cook and Annie Graham Cook.
Norma attended the New Life Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, going to church, being with her family and spending time with her two special grandchildren, Autumn and Connor DeHart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard H. Brooks and a step-great-grandchild, Xander Jace Brooks.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons Carl “Curly” Cook and Michael Scott Cook and a sister Alice Cook.
