"LONGWOOD, Fla. — Elijah Jefferson Goodson, Jr., "E.J.," 82, of Longwood, passed away April 5, 2010. E.J. was born December 24, 1927 in Kimball, W.Va. As a young man, he began his work career working in the coal mines, selling life insurance and working as a butcher. He was married to his wife, Minnie for 59 years and in l956 they moved from West Virginia to Orlando, Fla. He then began a 35 year career with Florida Power Corporation, starting as a collector in the Pine Castle area, before moving to Winter Park as Credit Manager. After retirement, E.J. and Minnie stayed active with other retirees from Florida Power, and particularly enjoyed the mountains of North Carolina. E.J. also enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Tracy, while keeping up with her every move! Elijah is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Fortuna Goodson; his parents, Elijah Jefferson Goodson, Sr. and Maude Halsey Goodson; and his brother, Marvin C. Goodson. He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Ann Goodson of Orlando. "A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, 301 NE Ivanhoe Blvd., Orlando. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 9, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs where Elijah was a member. Interment will follow at Greenwood Historic Cemetery of Orlando..."
