"PINEVILLE — Ruth Elizabeth Casteel, 94, of Pineville, passed away at her residence Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010.
"Born Dec. 22, 1915, in Graham, Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Willie Harrison Criner.
"Ruth opened Wyoming County’s first flower shop in 1948, “Pineville Flower Shop.” She was a charter member of the Pineville Presbyterian Church, past president of the Pineville Women’s Club, and was a member of Eastern Star, Pineville Lioness Club and the Pineville Homemakers Club. She will always be remembered as outgoing and vivacious. She loved people and traveling.
"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Opie Casteel, and a grandson, Scott Taylor.
