"20-Year-Old Boy Commits Suicide "PINEVILLE, Nov. 1 A 20-year-old gas company workman, who had announced his intention of getting married this weekend, took his own life Wednesday evening with a blast from a 20-guage shotgun.
"The body of Roby Glen Vance, an employe of the Hope Natural Gas Co. at Brenton, was found early this morning behind the smokehouse, near the home he shared with his parents on Little Cub Creek, about a mile from Baileysville." Neighbors reported hearing the suicide victim quarrel with his parents over a girl friend about supper time Wednesday.
"Sheriff Paul Goode said the parents contended the youth left home with the explanation he was
going squirrel hunting on Indian Creek and would return home in time for work today.
"They reported finding the body where it had apparently lain all night in the rain, after observing the youth's station wagon parked in the usual place this morniing.
"Police theorized the youth had tripped the trigger while leaning on the gun, with the charge entering his chest, near the heart.
"Justice of the Peace Bernard Morgan eaid he talked with another gas company employe who said the Vance youth appeared to be in the best of spirits and health Wednesday and mentioned his plans for getting married."Vance was born April 12, 1936, at Hanover, the son of Troy and Mae Vance.
"Surviving, in addition to the parents, are five brothers, Anderson and Riley, both of Baileysville, Clarence, Okey, and Henry, all at home; four sisters, Mrs. Lorry Lester, Baileysville, Mrs. Hite Stewart, Fanrock, Mrs. Junior Suttles, Oak Hill, Ohio, and Frances, at home; his maternal grandfather, Anderson Dock Vance, Steeles.
"The funeral will be held at 11a.m. Saturday at the Vance home. Burial will be in the Harmon-Cline Cemetery at Bailesyville. The body will be removed from the Robertson and Foglesong Funeral Home to the home at 5 p.m. Friday...."
