"Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a member of the Lester Baptist Church. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Miller's hobbies included quilting and embroidery.
"In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Graden Daniels; her second husband, James T. Miller; her daughter, Debra Shadd; and two brothers, Garnet and Vernon Hall.
"Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Edith Hodges and her husband, Bill, of Lester and Linda Harold and her husband, Paul, of Saltville, Va.; four grandchildren, Eric Harold of Greenville, SC, Dr. Matthew Hodges and his wife, Tamber, of Fuquay Varina, NC, Emily Singletary of Norfolk, Va., and James Shadd of Marianna; three great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Shelby Harold, both of LaPlata, Md. and Nate Hodges of Fuquay Varina, NC; a brother, Robert F. He departed this life, following an extended illness on Friday, May 31, 2002, in Lakeland, Florida. "He was a retired boiler operator for Kentucky Hydrocarbon Gas Company of Langley, Ky. He was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of Jehovan’s Witness for 28 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Price Hall. "He is survived by one son, Jeffery Taylor Hall (wife, Vickie) and one daughter, Gwendolyn Denise Hall, both of Lakeland, Florida; two brothers, Robert Foster “Pete” Hall of St. Mary’s Ohio, and Kenneth Lee Hall of Sun City, Arizona; three sisters, Ada Morgan and Elsa Smith, both of St. Mary’s, Ohio, and Edith Miller of Lester, West Virginia; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Hall. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Castle Hall. He was a good man, who always loved to coon hunt with his friends. His favorite past time was tinkering on things in his yard. He loved kids and was always picking on them. Earl was last employed by Ranger Fuel Coal Company until his retirement. "In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin sister, Pearl Bailey, a sister, Pansy Bailey Brooks and two brothers, Robert Bailey and Bud Bailey. "Survivors include a sister, Virgie McClung and her husband of Ravencliff; three brothers, Ivan Dean Bailey, Raymond Bailey and Kelly Bailey of Glen Rogers, and several nieces and nephews. "Special friends are Joe and Annette Tilley and their children, Delilah and Chad Brown of Bolt and Starr and Joey Wimmer of Fairdale and a very special little girl, Emaly Starr Brown.
