"LASHMEET — Lena McKinney Cole, 85, of Lashmeet, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 21, 2009 at Bower's Hospice House at Beckley. Born August 18, 1924 at Beeson, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie M. McKinney and Eva Mae Hylton McKinney.Mrs. Cole was retired from Princeton Community Hospital as a cook after 14 years of service. She was a member of the Old State Road Baptist Church at Beeson and the Pinoak Mercer County CEOS. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She enjoyed going to church and loved her church family. Everyone looked forward to her fried pies. She enjoyed quilting, family reunions, gardening and feeding the birds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon G. Cole in 1997; an infant daughter, Penny Sue; three sisters, Dessie Shrewsbury, Hessie McKinney and Lola Coomes; and two brothers, Basil McKinney and twin brother, Larlyn McKinney.Survivors include five sons, Bryan McKinney and his wife Debbie of Pinoak, Bruce Cole and his wife Carlotta of Speedway, Everett Cole and his wife Patricia of Beeson, Mark Cole and his wife Darlene of Princeton and Charles Cole and his wife Dee of Beeson; two daughters, Sheila Thornton and her husband Doug and Wilma Billings and her husband Jerry, all of Beeson; three sisters, Nina Shrewsbury of Beeson, Jeweldine Linkous of Kegley and Hazel Tijerina and her husband Nick of Sorrenpo, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law, Ruby McKinney of Beeson, Bernadine Dillon of Pinoak, Ola Cole of Bent Mountain, Edna Mae Cole of Princeton, Yvonne Linsinbigler of Lake Worth, Fla. and Wanda Cordell and her husband Bobby of Summerfield, Fla.; three brothers-in-law, Kelly E. "ROCK — Thelma Rayoma "Omie" McKinney, 79, of Reese Harmon Ridge Road, Rock, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Sandra's Home Sweet Home Elderly Care following a long illness. Born October 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Archie M. Williams and Sarah E. Williams. Mrs. McKinney was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker who provided personal care to the elderly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight sisters, Lealure Thornton, Georgia Karnes, Edna Davis, Maggie Williams, Mithie Basham, Minnie Simpson, Ella Blankenship and Marusia Reed; three brothers, Russell Williams, Richard Williams and Millard Williams; and one granddaughter, Sandra Johnson.Survivors include her husband, Jack McKinney; one daughter, Martha Johnson; one brother, Jess Williams; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
