Born Oct. 1, 1916 at Beartown, she was the daughter of the late (Christopher) Columbus Bailey and Viola Stanley Bailey. "In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Edward Blankenship in 1994; four brothers, Cover Bailey, Howard Bailey, Frank Bailey and (Holland) Boyd Bailey; and two sisters, (Mayme) Mamie Beavers and Thelma Blankenship. "Mrs. Blankenship retired as a cook at the Herndon Grade School after 17 years and was a member of the Beartown Memorial Church. "Survivors include one son, Paul Edward Blankenship and his wife Yvonne of Princeton; four daughters, Carol Greer of Route 1, Matoaka, Norma Gaye Hancock and her husband Jimmy of Route 1, Matoaka, Patty Dyer and her husband Robert of Fredericksburg, Va., and Ruth Ann Hill of Falls Church, Va.; one brother, Foster Bailey and his wife Pauline of Dayton, Ohio; one sister, Dorthey Christian of Renick; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four caregivers, Patty Branscome, Lillian Bailey, Jane Graham and Kim Graham. "Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Clyde Patrick officiating. Interment will follow at the Bailey Cemetery at Beartown..."
