"Polly Hagerman, 91, of the Welch/Pineville Road, formerly of Jolo, W.Va., died this morning, Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, in Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley. "Ms. Hagerman was born Sept. 8, 1916, in Buchanan County, Va., a daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Lester Baker. She was a former storekeeper, bookkeeper, and seamstress, and once owned and operated her own fabric shop in Raysal, W.Va. In addition she worked as a Nutrition Aide for the West Virginia University extension in McDowell County. Also, she was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church with her membership at the Antioch Church on the Welch/Pineville Road. She was the last surviving member of her original family. "In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Hagerman and all nine of her siblings: Ocie McClanahan, Irene Stacy, Charlie Baker, Matthew Baker, Jane Jones, Henry Baker, Elisha Baker, Jink Baker, and William Joseph Baker. "Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Testerman and husband James of the Welch/Pineville Road; one grandson, Joshua Ryan Testerman and Rachel Hawkins of the Welch/Pineville Road, and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Bella also of the Welch/Pineville Road; a very special niece, Polly Ann Hess and husband Alvie of Swords Creek, Va.; two additional nieces, Mrs. Nelson (Cloia) George of West Jefferson, N.C., and her children, Sara Jane George of North Carolina, Nelson George Jr. and James Patrick George and their families of Maryland, and Mrs. John (Mary Lou) Duran of Clarksville, Ark., and her daughter, Kimberly Gobble, and family of Maryland; two nephews, William Richard Wade Jr. and family of Clarksville, Ark., and Shawn Wade and family of Maryland.
