"KOPPERSTON-Dennie Dewayne Brown, departed this life Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2007, at the age of 55 years, 2 months and 14 days at his residence following a sudden illness.
"Born May 19, 1952 at Kopperston he was the husband of Sandra (Sandy) Yvonne Brown and the son of the late Dennie Wayne Brown Jr, and Rosalene Mullins Brown.
"Dewayne was a 1970, graduate of Oceana High School and a graduate of Marshall University. He was in the Oceana High School Hall of Fame. He was a lifetime member of the Toneda Missionary Baptist Church holding several offices. He loved to read and travel.
"Dewayne worked for the Wyoming County Board of Eduation as a teacher, principal and coach for 33 years. He was a principal at Kopperston Grade School and Guyan Valley, he also taught at Road Branch Elementry and he currently taught at Oceana Middle School.
"Dewayne was president of the Wyoming County CEA, and co-president of the Wyoming County Reading Council. Member of the International Reading Association and the Gideons International.
"Dewayne was loved by all who knew him and he will be dearly missed.
"Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents, Dennie and Rosalene.
"Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Sandra Y. "Sandy" Brown of Kopperston; a brother, Jeffery Douglas Brown and his wife, Loretta of Athens; two sisters, Sandra S. Brown and Sharon Brown both of Kopperston; mother-in-law, Sytha Kiser of New Richmond; three brother-in-laws, Chris Kiser of New Richmond, Walt Kiser of the Oaks in Beaver, and Eddie Kiser of Detroit, Mich.; sister-in-law, Sue Kiser of Sacromento, C.A.; two nephews, J.W. Kiser of Abington, V.A., and Michael Kiser of Detroit, Mich.; a niece, Chrissy Kiser of New Richmond;and his furry friend, Lady; and a host of friends.
"A celebration of Dewayne's life will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2007 at the Toneda Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Hamrick and the Rev. Ron Lee officiating. Dewayne will be laid to rest in the Kopperston Community Cemetery beside his parents..."

"CYCLONE — Arvil Kester “Boots” Lusk, 90, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, in a Charleston hospital. "Born Aug. 18, 1915, at Cyclone, he was the son of the late Hayes Lusk and Orpha Brown Lusk. "Mr. Lusk was a faithful member of Bright Prospect Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and hunter. "In addition to his parents, his wife, Ettie; a daughter, Shirley; three brothers, Shelly, Andy and Joe Lusk; and two sisters, Dorothy Brown and Elsie Bailey, preceded him in death. "Survivors include two sons, Lanta Lusk and his wife, Donna, of Cyclone and Wendell Lusk of Beckley; two daughters, Jackie Helmandollar and her husband, Russell, of Cyclone and Ella Jean Shields and her husband, Carlton, of Cyclone; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. "CYCLONE- George Posey "Doc" Toler, 79, departed this life, Monday, July 23, 2007 at the Logan Center Nursing Home following a long illness.
"Born September 18, 1927, at Cyclone he was the son of the late Day and Etha Toler.
"Mr. Toler was an avid deer hunter and gardener and looked forward each fall to going hunting and making apple butter with his family. He loved his grandchildren, and took a lot of pleasure in them visiting and watching them at play. Mr. Toler was very well known for making "Old Fashion Stack Cakes" (this was a family tradition passed down several generations) which he loved doing and everyone loved eating.
"He was baptized into the baptist faith in April 2007.
"Mr. Toler worked in the coal industry 42 years and retired in 1990 with 41 years with Eastern Associated Coal Corp. and was a member of Local Union 7604.
"In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, six brothers, Raymond Pierce, James Pete, Ronald Paul, Prayther Lee, Pondy N. and William "Bill" Powell Toler.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, India Bailey Toler; two daughters, Marilyn Lusk and her husband, Rodney of Cyclone and Jean Ann Blankenship and her husband, Mike of Basset, VA.; five grandchildren, Brian Lusk and his wife, Ashley of Davin, Jennifer Shelton and her husband, Frankie of Beckley, Kelly McDaniel and her husband, Jason of Beckley, Joshua Blankenship and his wife, April of Lynchburg,VA. and Kayla Adkins of Beckley; seven great-grandchildren, Brandon Cook, Corey Acord, and Kara Cook of Beckley,Lexie Lusk of Davin, Aaron Irick of Cyclone, Nikki and Mackenzie Blankenship of Lynchburg,VA.;two step great-grandchildren, Tanner Shelton and Jayce McDaniel both of Beckley; four sisters, Clara West (who was also a loving caregiver to him) of McConnell, Carrie Hanshaw and her husband, Dr. Bill of Quincy, IL., Minnie Rose Anthony and her husband, Gene of Claremore, OK, and Lillian Goodman of Newport News, VA.; and a special friend and brother-in-law who spent many hours working in the garden and making apple butter with him, Michael Hall of Cyclone; several nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
