two children together (Jesse James Rose & Mae Rose. John W. Rose was a coal miner who was
trying to organize the union for the miners, and he was shot by the "hired hands" of the mine who
opposed unionization. He did not die right away. There was martial law in the area, and my dad said
the miners would sneak Rebecca through the coal mines after curfew so that she could see John
before he passed away.."
